The New Baby

On the 3rd of February, my aunty Hayley had a new baby. Her stomach felt contractions and then she had a baby boy. His name is... Riot Platnuim. When Riot came out of  Hayley's stomach he looked so cute! And handsome! After that, Hayley found a baby sitter  and got some new and fancy clothes for him. About 5 months later Riot cold fit 1 year old clothes! By Sativalee.

A Wonderful Time At Rainbow's End

On the 19th of July my aunty Selau and my uncle Kosane took me, my sisters and my little brother Denzel to Rainbow's end. My aunty Selau had to pay 50 dollars!
As we walked inside, a lady put a yellow bracelet on me, my sister Danielle and my uncle Kosane while my aunty Selau took my sister Katherine and my brother Denzel to the Kids kingdom.
After we got our yellow bracelets, my uncle Kosane took me and Danielle to the roller coster. There was a long line. Soon, it was our turn. We sat in the back carriage because that's the one that goes really fast. It was fun!
Afterwards, my aunty Selau bought chips for all of us. The
chips were so yummy.
Next my uncle Kosane took me and Danielle to the Stratosphere. As it was our
turn, we sat on the number 22 seat. Suddenly, the ride was about to start! As it started rotating, it felt like I could see the whole world. Next, we went on the fearfall. At first it was good, after a moment it got scary but I stayed calm.
When it was the end of the day, we went to KFC for dinner. We bought a drink, chicken, gravy, salad and four kids meals. Finally, we went home for a sleep. It was the best day ever!

A moment in time...

One of my most favourite moments in time is when my sister had a baby girl. When I first saw her, she had green eyes and I can smell baby powder. I was asked to taste my nieces bottle to check if it was warm. The milk tasted funny! My sister's baby screamed loud and she was crying as well. I love holding her and she has such tiny feet and tiny hands. My nieces name is Aloma and I love her very much!

JAM BUS! Mobile Recording Studio!

Here are some pictures of our special recording session we had with the JAM Bus mobile recording studio! Room 11 practised a part instrumental song called, "Everybody loves Saturday night". We created some of the lyrics and decided what beats, instruments and arrangement we were going to use on the day of recording! On the day we recorded, it was blustery, cold and rainy BUT the weather didn't dampen our excitement! We had loads of fun and were lucky enough to receive a cd of our and other classes recorded songs! Thanks Jam Bus!
It was exciting seeing all of the recording equipment!

Rocky Shore by Ty

On Thursday the 27th of February, the sun was pretty outside. The year 4 and 5 students from our school went to the Omana Reverse. First, we had morning tea and then we went to the toilets. Room 12 and Room 8 got to go to the rocky shore first and our class and Room 13 went for a walk with teachers and the parents. When we went for a walk we saw some mangroves and they grow from mud. When we saw the mangroves, we saw webs hanging from trees. When we were in the forest we looked like we were hunting for something! We then played on the park by the drive way next to the toilets. Then we had lunch and finally it was Room 11 and 13's turn to go on the rocky shore. We found a sea anemone on a rock and I saw some barnacles on rocks too. I saw spiny tubeworms - they are sneaky! We all had a fantastic time!

Flying saucer

Last night I peered out of the window and I saw a flying saucer and out came aliens! There were two of them! They came into my room and I hid under my bedThey walked in to my mum's room then they walked back into mine! I came out from under my bed,  I got a bat and I cast the aliens outside and back into their flying saucerAnd they flew away with a .... shooooooo!

Visting the new baby

On May the 9th, me and my family went to Middlemore hospital to see my sister in law's new baby. We were so happy to see him! Firstly we went to the shop and bought some flowers and chocolate and then we went to the hospital. The next day, my brother and Elisa went to buy a car seat for the baby. Elisa and my brother went to pick up my sister in law and the baby from the hospital.

The Awesome Manukau Cinema by Salarina

On Tuesday, my aunty Selau took me and my sisters to the Manukau Cinema. We went there because we wanted to see the Lego movie. Meanwhile, we all jumped in my uncle Kosane's van. While my aunty Selau drove us all the way to Manukau Cinema, me and my sisters were very excited because it was our first time. Soon, we went to find a car park to park. Then we went inside to get our popcorn and drinks, and we went into cinema eight to watch Lego movie. When we got in there my sisters were too excited but I was very calm. Suddenly, the movie started. In the movie there was a guy called Emmet and a girl called Wild Style. They are very funny. When the movie finished we all went home. When we got home me and my sisters were very sad it was over! I had lots of fun at the Cinema.

Splish Splash Fun at the Pools! By Malakai

On saturday, my family and I went to Otara pools because we were  hot and board. Firstly, I woke up and brushed my teeth and I was feeling happy.

Next, I had breakfast and I wash my bowl. Soon, I jumped in the car and I was feeling mad and hot but when we got to the Otara pools we were happy - and so cold! My favourite part was playing with my new friend I'd just met in the 1.20M pool.

The rocky shore - By Gene

Here is a picture of me and my friends. Charlene and Jadyn are standing , me and Leilani are kneeling and handsome Henley is right at the front!
Do you know all about the rocky shore?

Some creatures at the rocky shore are chitons, jelly fish, star fish and other kinds.
Sea stars are animals that live in the sea. Some people call them star fish, but they are not fish. All fish have backbones. Sea stars don't have back bones. They don't even have a head!A sea star gets its name from the way it's body is shaped like a star.
Did you know that a group of fish is called a school? It's just like lots of people are called a group. The little baby fish hide by the mangroves. Do you know why they hide by the mangroves? They hide so the other big fish can't get to them. Some fish are grey and all fish have fins on their body.
I hope you learned heaps about the rocky shore and the ocean.

Flashback! Literacy Week! Term One!

During literacy week, Room 11 learnt all about a book called, "The Indian in the cupboard" by an author called Lynne Reid Banks. We made keys, cupboards and    characters. The main characters in the story were Omri,  Little Bull and Patrick. On literacy dress-up day, Miss Pesaleli came dressed up as Little Bull. I thought she looked amazing!

Rocky Shore Safari at Omana Reserve...More pics to come!!!!

Charlene found 5 different types of shell!

Sativalee and Pilato

Can you guess what this is?
Did you think it was tree bark?
Nope! Wrong answer! We were surprised, shocked and AMAZED to find out that this is BALEEN! From an actual baleen whale! They use this fringe to filter out shrimp and plankton from sea water! NEAT ALRIGHT!

We collected all sorts of shells and then sorted them into groups! We know all about 'filter feeding' shell fish!

Check out Reko the 'super spy'!
Luti caught a little shrimp! It almost got away from him!
Last month, we went on a Rocky Shore Safari! We explored the intertidal zone, we studied all sorts of rock pool creatures and had LOADS of fun!!! Check out the first of our photos!
