My year in review-2014

*At the start of the year I felt nervous going to a higher level and learning higher stuff then year 3 and I was scared metting a new teacher.

* Learning goals I have met have been with writing, spelling, art, music, ruling up lines and when I do my basic facts for maths.

* Friendships I have  this year are Sativalee, Aaliyah, Charlene, Xeria, Leilani and Salarina.I  wanted to be friends with Sativalee, Aaliyah, Charlene, Xeria, Leilani because they are kind and caring friends.

* My favourite activies I have done this year have been playing with happy and caring friends, being the messenger for Miss Pesaleli and colouring pieces of art work with bright colourful colours.

* The biggest challenges for me has been learning to cut with sissors because when I was in year 3 I kept on cutting the black line by acident and using Ipads.

* Academic goals for next year is writing neatly, getting my spelling correct every Friday and getting my homework right every time.

 * Behavioural goals for next year is staying focused on school work and being a responsible person.

Our amazing art lesson from Graham Braddock!

On August the 22nd, Room 11 and all the Year 4 and 3 students went up to the hall to see Graham Braddock.

This is the paper we were given to help us draw.
Here is a picture of all of us with paper, markers and magazines to lean on.

This is Graham Braddock showing us how to draw.

He is an artist. We were given some paper and had to draw a shop. I thought we had to draw a house at first but we had to draw a shop. We had to get a pencil from our class and then we got paper. When we got into the hall I saw lines of newspaper, art pencil and black super vivid laid out for us ready for our art lesson.

Mrs Harding is standing by Graham Braddock.

Here is a picture of Gene pulling a funny face.
When I looked at the paper, we already had dots on it to help us know where to start drawing.
With Mr Braddock's help, we drew a dog, a girl, a man, a baby and a shop.

Here is Leilani and Gene and their art.

This is Graham Braddock drawing. He added some coloured dye to his picture at the end.

Otara pools!

On Friday morning room 11 was so excited because we love going to the pools. On friday the 16th of May, we went there on a bus. Ms Andrew came with Room 11to the Otara pools. When I got to school, I took out my plastic bag that had my stuff in it so that I could get changed. I got a black vivid and wrote my name on the plastic bag. After that I went back to my bag and pulled out my book bag then I took out my home work book and my spelling book. I put it in the container. Next, I sat down on my desk and took out my book and started to read. Then I heard Ms Andrew say come and sit down for the roll. Room 11 sat down and Ms Andrew did the roll.

She then took us out by the office. The bus came and Ms Andrew said, "The front row please walk quietly into the bus." And they did. Then the second line walked quietly onto the bus. We all sat down and wondered what was going to happen.

When we got to the pools, Room 11 felt so excited! We all love swimming! The first thing Ms Andrew said was for us to go and put on our togs. Then Room 11 had to wait to jump in the pool. Room 12 was in the pool before us. When they were almost finished, they played a game called, "What's the time Mr Wolf." When they played the game, our class laughed because Steve shouted, "It's dinnertime!" And he  went to catch Room 12. And he did.

Finally it was our turn. We felt so excited! When we jumped in the pool it felt warm. The first thing the coaches did was to split us into equal groups. The coaches names were Steve, Stan and Peter. In Steve's group we had to do freestyle. In Stan's group they also had to do freestyle. In Peter's group, they were swimming using boards. The last part of the lesson was my favourite because we got to play "What's the time Mr Wolf?" too. That was the greatest game ever! When we came back to school, it was morning tea time and everyone was playing. Ms Andrew said, "You can get extra time."

That was the best Friday ever! By Gene!

May the luck of the Irish be with you all!!

Last term we studied other cultures! This year our syndicate did loads of inquiry into the beautiful country of Ireland and fantastic St Patricks Day celebrations! The Irish have some fantastic myths and legends! They even have their own version of the classical Cinderella story!! Here are a few pictures!

The rocky shore - By Gene

Here is a picture of me and my friends. Charlene and Jadyn are standing , me and Leilani are kneeling and handsome Henley is right at the front!
Do you know all about the rocky shore?

Some creatures at the rocky shore are chitons, jelly fish, star fish and other kinds.
Sea stars are animals that live in the sea. Some people call them star fish, but they are not fish. All fish have backbones. Sea stars don't have back bones. They don't even have a head!A sea star gets its name from the way it's body is shaped like a star.
Did you know that a group of fish is called a school? It's just like lots of people are called a group. The little baby fish hide by the mangroves. Do you know why they hide by the mangroves? They hide so the other big fish can't get to them. Some fish are grey and all fish have fins on their body.
I hope you learned heaps about the rocky shore and the ocean.
