Squirtle The Turtle

I see the beautiful patterns on turtles shell. I also see the turtles wobbly legs shaking.

I hear it's sharp nails scratching against the container. I also hear the grass making a different noise as the turtle crawls.

I smell the yuck smell of the left over water in the container. I also smell the fresh air as it refreshes me.

I feel the hard shell that protects the turtle. I also feel a little bit scared to touch it.

I wonder what kind of turtle species he is?

Meet Squirtle

On Thursday the 7th of September. A group of students looked at Mrs Brass' turtle who is called Squirtle. We were looking at it because we are learning to add more detail into our stories by describing using our 5 senses. See, hear, feel, touch, smell, and taste. We are also learning to conclude our stories with an I wonder statement. We got to take Squirtle for a walk out on the grass. We learnt a lot about him and his species of turtle. Afterwards we went inside and wrote about Squirtle.

Our Diwali Celebration

This term Room 11 and Room 13 have been learning about celebrations and traditions from all around the world. We have been looking very closely at Diwali. How it is celebrated and why it is celebrated. As a syndicate we decided to complete Diwali tasks and crafts. We made colour sand rangoli patterns and made some lanterns out of jewels. We created origami elephants with fancy costumes as well as coloured in brightly a patterned elephant picture. After two busy afternoons have turns at the different activities we sat down and Miss E had organised us some Diwali snacks to try. One was very spicy, another one was like a milk biscuit and there was also one that was like a pancake but in the shape of a circle.

Diwali

Do you know about Diwali? well I do. When Hindu's celebrate Diwali they celebrate the good over evil and they use fireworks and they go and buy new clothes and it is beautiful and colourful.

Hindu people who celebrate Diwali go to other people houses during Diwali and say "happy Diwali"  to them and they give a delicious plate of food.

Did you know that they go and buy their clothes from the markets and they celebrate it in India and all over the world. They put beautiful lights over there homes.

The Space Bus!

9am when the bell rang, Room 11 were already on the school bus for our trip to out of space. We all had our packed lunches and were siting in our seats. The bus driver AKA Miss E started the bus, it rattled siting in the driveway of the school. We slowly began to drive out of the driveway.

As we were driving down Dawson road Miss E our teacher and our bus driver pushed the big flashing red light next to the staring wheel. Then all of a sudden I began to feel dizzy like I was going to faint right then and there. Suddenly our bus started to look funny, “We are in a rocket ship” shouted Matutu. We were flying over the other planets and around the moon when…

SMASH! BANG! CRASH! “We hit a comet” yelled Miss E as we flew towards the moon. BANG! we crash landed. Luckily we all survived. But! our rocket ship is smashed into a million little pieces. “How are we going to get home?” asked Ana. Miss E look worried as she shrugged her shoulders.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! we look above and there is a UFO! We all hide. When the UFO landed the ramps came out and these funny looking green aliens with one eye started walking towards us. They shout “We come in peace!” Miss E begins to walk towards them. From a distance I can see them shaking hands and talking. They all have tool belts. We begin to walk towards them as they are busy working fast to put our rocket ship bus back together.

Finally our rocket ship is back together and we can pack up and begin to head home to planet earth. When we get back to planet earth something was strange, our school was not there anymore and on the calendar it says we are now in the year 2020!

Life Ed

On Tuesday we went to Life Ed. We had to take our shoes off and walk inside to line up on the wall. Then we got into 4 lines on the Life Ed's new clean shiny mat. Then we used different colour lights, the red light made our blue uniform purple. The blue light made Miss E and Judelexus glow bright colours. Miss E's t-shirt was bright pink and Judelexus hair-tie was bright green.

Bright Blue

Blue is oceans
and bubble gum.

Blue is the taste of juicy blue berries.

Blue smells like rain and blue berry smoothies.

Blue is squishy wobbly and watery.

Blue is water and gardens.

Blue makes me feel sad
and alone.

Blue is wet and cold.

Blue sounds like smashing and
crashing waves.

Spring Poem

Winter is gone and Spring is here,
A rainbow began to appear.

Spring is today,
I shout hooray.

The flowers bloom,
Just like a cartoon.

Spring is a flowery season,
Sometimes I don't like the flowers for no reason.

I see buzzy bees,
Dancing around trees.

Spring is here,
So everybody start to cheer.

By Lauralye

Lovely Spring

Winter has packed away,
Spring is starting today.

I  look around I see a log,
then I see a little frog.

I see busy buzzing bees,
and leaves on trees.

It's Spring today,
so everyone shout hooray!

Spring is here,
It's what I have been waiting for all year.

Spring

Winter is gone away,
now Spring starts today.

The trees grow leaves,
and bees live in trees.

Ring ring it's spring today,
and hello hello it's a beautiful day.

Spring Is Here

The lovely flowers are here,
So everyone stand and cheer.

The flowers think they need to show,
But all they need to do is grow.

The green grass is here,
So everyone cheer.

In Spring it is cool,
Because I can swim in the swimming pool.
